A PRIVATE CHAT WITH…
WE MET WITH JESSICA MENDOZA TO LEARN A BIT MORE ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE AND HOBBIES. LET’S GET TO KNOW A DIFFERENT SIDE OF THE STAR RIDER...
When was your very first equestrian competition?
Probably when I was 3 and won my first red rosette, showing on a wonderful Shetland called Hollie.
What has been the highlight of your career?
Being part of the Rio Olympic team. Even though I was reserve and didn’t get to ride, it was an honor and an incredible experience. And being on the British team at the 2015 Europeans.
If you had not gone into horse riding, what would you like to have done?
The arts. I did art for my A levels at school. I paint and I really enjoy it, creating oil paintings of quirky sorts of animals. It’s a kind of a mix between realistic and abstract.
You travel a lot. What is your favorite city?
London. I love the shops and incredible choice of food!
Which object do you always keep with you?
My favorite Taylor Morris sunglasses.
Who is your favorite athlete?
What is your favorite piece of music?
Anything by Justin Bieber…
Do you prefer the beach or the mountains?
Definitely the beach. I love the warmth of the sun.
What is your favorite holiday destination?
Holidays have to fit in around competing and tend to get squeezed in at the last minute, but I would love to go the Maldives.
What is your current bedtime reading?
I prefer to watch TV shows to be honest. My favorites are the fantasy programs with zombies or vampires.
What is your favorite film?
What is your favorite cocktail?
A raspberry Mojito.
How do you spend your ideal Sunday?
With a roast!
What is your everyday car? And your dream car?
A Mini for everyday and I have always loved the Mercedes sports range for a dream car.
