WHEN WAS YOUR VERY FIRST EQUESTRIAN COMPETITION? with which horse? i started riding when i was 4 years old thanks to my father. i was 8 when i had my very first competition in switzerland. i keep a very pleasant memory of it. my horse was called zirpe.
WHAT’S THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR? It was when I became number one in the world ranking in 2010. I remember I was in Zurich when I learned about it, after my third place in the Grand Prix. It was a very special, incredible experience.
IF YOU HAD NOT GONE INTO HORSE RIDING, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO DO? I wouldn’t have been able to live without horses… and I love to travel and discover new countries, so I would probably have been a coach.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CITY? Lucerne, in Switzerland.
WHICH OBJECT DO YOU ALWAYS KEEP WITH YOU? It is not an object but an animal: my small dog Bounty, he never leaves us!
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETE? Roger Federer. He is a prodigy! He has always kept his feet on the ground despite his huge success and he continues to shine and impress people, even those who don’t believe in him anymore.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PIECE OR TYPE OF MUSIC? Currently I listen to “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran quite a lot.
WHICH HOLIDAY DESTINATION DO YOU PREFER? No matter where I go, I need sand, the sea and the sun.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH? I like everything my wife, Flo, cooks!
and YOUR FAVORITE Drink? Martini Blanc.
THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIMES? I really like the western by Sergio Leone, “Once upon a time in the West”.
WHAT is your favorite TV SHOW? two and a half men.
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR IDEAL SUNDAY (WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN A SHOW)? An ideal Sunday is no doubt at a show! But the perfect Sunday to me is when I have won the Grand Prix and this has been like that for the past thirty years (smiles)! I am at horse shows every weekend except the one during Christmas holidays.
WHAT IS YOUR EVERYDAY CAR? AND YOUR DREAM CAR? I drive a Mercedes ML and my dream car would be a Maserati.
