Last February, the historic centre of Oristano lit up and unveiled its charm during the most famous Sardinian equestrian festival, a symbol of Carnival on the island.
Created as an equestrian show to entertain landowners and 'common people' on the occasion of victories, more than a hundred riders follow the legendary Componidori, masked and decked out in elegant Sardinian-Spanish attire, and gallop on finely clad horses, accompanied by the constant rolling of drums. The test of skill involves piercing the suspended stars with the sword.
